About AgriTech Training

Accredited by LANTRA

In the rapidly evolving landscape of modern crop production, the integration of technology has become a pivotal force in enhancing efficiency, productivity, and sustainability and this includes the introduction of Autonomous Mobile Robots, sometimes referred to as Agri-Robotics or Autonomous Mobile Machines (AMM).

Across this website, autonomous machines and autonomous robots used in agriculture and horticulture will be referred to as Autonomous Mobile Machinery or AMM.

Since the introduction of the Code of Practice for the safe use of AMM, published in July 2023 by the British Standards Institution, safety has been highlighted as a priority by industry leaders. However, corresponding up-skilling of the workforce has been slower largely due to the lack of available training.

Ei Operator-AgriTech are proud to launch a new range of Lantra accredited, online training designed specifically for those businesses, their managers and employees, who are integrating AMM into the workplace. Manufacturers and distributors of agri-robotics will also find the courses useful if testing AMM or selling them in the UK. Our courses are designed for the UK market and focus on the safe use of AMM as highlighted in the Code of Practice, BS 8646:2023 and support compliance in the agricultural and horticultural sectors.

The safe integration of AMM: £95 + vat

This course assesses the impact the Code of Practice has for businesses adopting autonomous machines from commissioning through to integration into normal operations. It looks at four main areas: the obligations of managers and staff during commissioning; effective training; repair and maintenance routines; and emergency procedures. It examines why effective commissioning and training are critical and considers what areas of training are important to specific groups of staff and how to check whether it is working in practice. It is advisable to take the Introduction to AMM course prior to completing this one.

Safety and risk management for AMM: £95 + vat

This course looks at risk management for those working alongside AMM. It describes the steps necessary to improve safety by assessing new hazards posed by these machines. It evaluates what best practice is and highlights obligations that employers and employees now have under the Code of Practice. Learn how to distinguish between hazard and risk and how to conduct a risk assessment for AMM. You will be able to assess the level of risk and how to establish the control measures to manage them. It is advisable to take the Introduction to AMM course prior to completing this one.

Operational planning and site design for AMM: £95 + vat

This course covers the relevant operational factors for compliance with the Code of Practice. It explains the impact of regulation and what pre-planning is required when adopting AMM in the workplace. It looks at the main areas highlighted by the CoP such as public rights of way, assessing existing infrastructure, ensuring the site meets the specific limitations of the machine being adopted and the implications for staff training and commissioning. Mapping, route planning and transport are also included. It is advisable to take the Introduction to AMM course prior to completing this one.

How to Enrol on a Course

Learners may choose to enrol on a course individually, or add multiple courses to their ‘basket’ before checking out. Alternatively, an employer may choose to purchase courses for staff as a bulk order. In each case, a separate email address will be required for each individual learner so we can attribute progress to each person and ensure that once passed, the course certificate is sent to the correct learner.
Once you have chosen a course simply click on the ‘purchase course’ button above and follow the step by step instructions to add the course to the ‘basket’ – you can add as many courses as required at this stage – then go to ‘checkout’ to add you or your staff’s details and pay for the course(s). As soon as the payment is made, the course is immediately accessible. There is a period of 12 months to complete the course and you can finish it over a matter of days if necessary – the software will remember progress.
