A detailed look at the operational planning and site design considerations in relation to BS 8646:2023 – Code of Practice, with general best practice advice for businesses working with autonomous mobile machines in agriculture and horticulture in the UK.
Site design and operational planning are two important parts of the new Code of Practice (CoP) and this course covers all the relevant factors a business should consider to ensure compliance. It explains the impact of new regulations and what pre-planning is required when adopting autonomous machines in the workplace.
It looks at the main areas that are highlighted by the Code of Practice such as public rights of way, assessing existing infrastructure, ensuring the site meets the specific limitations of the autonomous machine being adopted and the implications for staff training and commissioning. Mapping, route planning and transport are covered in detail alongside other best practice advice for planning and site design.
The course is aimed at businesses and their senior staff that are integrating autonomous machines into the workplace, but it’s also useful for manufacturers and distributors, advising UK businesses on their safe use.
Each main topic is broken down into individual lessons, which divides the information into manageable chunks. The courses finishes with a final test which is compulsory. You will need to score 80% to pass and you can re-take the test as many times as it takes to pass. Each question is worth one mark. ‘Quick Quizzes’ are included in each lesson and while they do not contribute to the overall assessment score, they help keep you engaged and actively learning, ready for the end of course test.
We suggest you use a PC or laptop and do not attempt to complete the training on a mobile phone. We recommend making a few notes as you progress through the course, but you can use the course grid to navigate back to each lesson if you need to re-read any of the course material before taking the final test. If you leave the course at any point, it will remember which lessons have been completed so you can return to the course later without losing your progress.
