Agronomists play a critical role in deciding which plant protection products (PPPs) are used, where and when they are applied as well as how cultural controls are integrated. These decisions directly affect environmental protection and the sustainability of active ingredients.
Stewardship is part of an agronomist’s responsibility when issuing spray recommendations. To follow best practice and industry guidelines, information about these schemes must be included in the advice they deliver.
This course outlines the agronomist’s role in stewardship, highlighting the need to protect water, maintain product approvals and comply with both voluntary and statutory guidance. By the end of the course, participants will be equipped to embed stewardship into their day-to-day advice and planning.
This course is intended as a general guide for qualified members of the BASIS Professional Register and is worth four BASIS points. NRoSO points also apply.
The course includes PDF downloads for further information and future reference and each lesson has some quizzes to keep you engaged with the topic – these do not count towards your final test. At the end of the course there is an end of course test. You must achieve 80% in the final test to earn four BASIS/NRoSO points. If you do not answer enough of the test questions correctly the first time, you will be able to retake the test until you do. Just click the retake test button.
Follow the prompts at the end of each page to move through the course to the final test.
Once you have completed the course and passed the test at the end, the course will show as 100% complete and we will then send your points to BASIS and/or NRoSO for you.
