A detailed look at safety and risk management in relation to BS 8646:2023 – The British Standard Code of Practice alongside general best practice advice for those testing, trialling or working with Autonomous Mobile Machines in the UK.
This course is mainly aimed at those businesses and their staff working with autonomous mobile machines, but will also be useful for manufacturers and distributors selling in the UK market. We explain how to achieve compliance with the new regulations to support those working with or thinking about adopting autonomous machines.
The course provides an overview of the risk management process that businesses and those working alongside autonomous mobile machinery will need to consider. It also describes the steps necessary to improve safety by assessing the new hazards that autonomous machines pose. The course evaluates what best practice might look like and importantly, it highlights the obligations that employers and employees now have under the new Code of Practice.
You will learn how to distinguish between hazard and risk and how to apply each term when conducting a risk assessment. The course explains how to identify hazards when working with autonomous machines, how to assess the level of risk and how to establish the control measures to manage them.
Each main topic is broken down into individual lessons, which divides the information into manageable chunks. The courses finishes with a final test which is compulsory. You will need to score 80% to pass and you can re-take the test as many times as it takes to pass. Each question is worth one mark. ‘Quick Quizzes’ are included in each lesson and while they do not contribute to the overall assessment score, they help keep you engaged and actively learning, ready for the end of course test.
We suggest you use a PC or laptop and do not attempt to complete the training on a mobile phone. We recommend making a few notes as you progress through the course, but you can use the course grid to navigate back to each lesson if you need to re-read any of the course material before taking the final test. If you leave the course at any point, it will remember which lessons have been completed so you can return to the course later without losing your progress.
