Kuhn Karan

Available with tank capacities of 4,500-, 5,200-, 6,000- and 8,000-litres and with steel or aluminium 18m to 45m wide booms, Kuhn’s new Karan trailed sprayers are aimed at medium- to larger farms and contractors.

The range will eventually come with a choice of specifications, with the Power version being the first on offer. This has a choice of Manuset or Dilutset – the fully automatic, fluid control and will be equipped with 24m to 39m wide booms, with a 50cm nozzle spacing.

A new induction hopper design, which can handle up to 220 litres/min, can be pre-fitted with a closed transfer system (CTS), enabling products to be filled without removing caps. Autoset fills tanks at a rate of 900 litres/min and spraying at up to 500 litres/min.

The new Eagle Smart Contour Control allows forward speeds of up to 25km/h to be achieved by maintaining boom height and stability. This, says Kuhn, permits booms to work at 30cm to control drift and its new range of XEA3 aluminium booms provides a choice of 50cm of 30cm nozzle spacings.

An option is Kuhn’s Autospray PWM system, which it introduced in 2019. As well as individual nozzle control and maintaining consistent droplet size across a wide speed range, it also provides turn compensation. Later versions will come with the further option of I-Spray and on-board cameras for spot spraying.

Karan models also introduce some novel maintenance aids, including an integrated winch that enables the pump to be removed in 15mins, as well a removeable tank sump and roof to improve access to internal components.
